Mandy Parton

I am a highly effective and knowledgeable dyslexia practitioner, based within the West Midlands. I have significant experience within the field of specialist dyslexia assessment, tuition, support and training. I hold a professional Dyslexia Assessment Practising Certificate with Patoss and I am an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA).  I love teaching; working with young people, adults,  staff, parents and the wider community. My services include offering full assessments for all ages from children through to adult in order to diagnose dyslexia. I can also offer initial screenings to identify a potential risk of dyslexia, as well as completing assessments for exam access arrangements for anyone currently studying a qualification.

By planning and creating innovative teaching programmes and resources, I provide support and tuition for children through to adults which enhances learning and suits individual needs. As a parent, I know what it’s like to worry that my children may not be challenged or supported enough with their studies and also whether I am doing the best I can to help them.

I have delivered the OCR Level 5 Certificate Teaching Learners with SpLD (Dyslexia) to other professionals across the West Midlands. I have also been responsible for organising dyslexia awareness events and delivering staff development training to raise the profile of support and specific learning difficulties; raising standards of learning support and ensuring a high quality service is offered to all.

I have experience of working with employers and employees through apprenticeship programmes. I am able to offer dyslexia awareness training, advice and guidance to ensure effective access to work.

I believe that a key factor is to aim to break down the barriers to enable anyone with a specific learning difficulty to access learning and training by offering an effective approach, working with natural strengths and treating thinking and learning styles with dignity and respect. I am very person focused and place considerable emphasis on building self-esteem to enable everyone to reach their potential.

"The assessment is something I never wanted to do. Although, I had felt the need, I had postponed for many years, partly because I feared that the assessment would put me in a situation that would bring back painful memories, stories and experiences relating to my natural condition, and as a result I would be too overwhelmed to be able to talk or even complete the test. However, Mrs Mandy Parton made the whole experience completely the opposite of what I had been dreading. As the saying goes 'A man of calm is like a shady tree and people who need shelter come to it"; indeed after my experience with Mrs Parton, there is no shade of doubt in my mind that she is heavenly sent, a true blessing for people in my situation. I would therefore like to say a huge thank you for her patience, calmness, her kindness and for all her human and professional qualities that reassured me and allowed me to complete the test. May she always be blessed and keep doing the excellent job. With my most sincere and deepest gratitude".

"The school's SENCO stated this was the best detailed report they had ever seen and because of this, can use and put into action lots of Mandy's ideas and suggestions. Mandy's  professionalism as I sat and observed her on the day was fantastic and one to be admired! This really helped my knowledge and understanding of the report which has given Harrison, the school and myself the confidence to address any problems ahead".
